The Sommerfuglen residential area is located close to the stream that runs through Halgaard East and is one of the defining natural features of the area. Sommerfuglen is characterised by terraced housing set in the open countryside. The homes overlook green, open areas and are all oriented towards the south in order to optimise their passive solar gain.
